Fed Up! research reports high levels of food insecurity at William Angliss Institute.

In 2022, Just Food Collective started the Fed Up! campaign to understand the extent of student food insecurity at William Angliss Institute, following the lead of the University of Tasmania and University of Melbourne.

While research has been conducted in Australia on student food insecurity at universities, our research raised the question of what it is like for the vocational sector as a whole. Were vocational students suffering as much as university students? Our research points to yes.

The Victoria state government did some great work during the height of the pandemic, and has funded the $1.25 million Pop-up Food Relief Market grants- a great example of a dignified, universal food access solution. City of Melbourne, where William Angliss Institute is situated is also committing to reduce food insecurity by 25% by 2025 in their communities.

What our research highlights is that this work must continue and it must be a long-term and integrated model if we are to solve this issue. Find out final report below.

We are grateful to be able to continue our work through our next project, Well Fed: A student food project. Head here to learn more!
