Our Story
The Just Food Collective is a not-for-profit founded in 2021 by emerging food systems leaders. Comprised of graduates in Food Studies, ex-hospitality workers, young researchers and people working in advocacy and grassroots organisations, Just Food Collective have created a strong, passionate foundation for food systems change through collective action. As part of the larger Food Justice movement, their philosophy is centred around targeting youth and future leaders for fresh perspectives in the battle for a more equitable, just, and sustainable food system.
Since inception, they have built a strong foundation through six principles: sustainability, wellbeing, systemic approach, collective action, conviviality and youth leadership. These six principles show what JFC is all about. They believe the food system needs to be transformed into one that is sustainable for the whole planet, forever, and that it must promote wellbeing for all, rather than the privileged few.
Just Food believes that we are more powerful together, especially when we get to sit around the table together with good food.
